Please join us for a night of discussion led by Professor Deborah Saleeby- Mulligan focusing on the emergence of New York City as the center of the contemporary art world. The lecture will trace the development of art trends from Abstract Expressionism of the 1950s to the Shock art of the 1990s in painting, sculpture, and installation art. Particular attention will be given to the artists working in New York during these four decades and the movements they created. Light refreshments will be served.
