New Yorker cartoonist and author of
“Can We Talk About Something More Pleasant?”
Roz Chast will be the featured artist at this celebration of the Graphic Novel, presented by the Manhattanville College MFA Creative Writing Program. Ms. Chast’s presentation and book signing begins at 11 a.m., Reid Castle West Room and is free and open to the public.
Three-hour Graphic Novel Writing Workshops for adults and youth begin at 1 p.m.
Registration is $75 and includes a box lunch.
~ The Adult workshop will be capped at 15 participants.
~ Youth workshops are open to ages 10 and up. Workshops are capped at 25.

ADULT WRITING WORKSHOP led by Paul Levitz, a comic fan (The Comic Reader), editor (Batman), writer (Legion of Super-Heroes), executive (30 years at DC, ending as President & Publisher), historian (Will Eisner: Champion of the Graphic Novel, Abrams ComicArts, 2015) and educator. His over 400 comics have been collected in more than 20 graphic novels. He teaches at Princeton, Columbia, Manhattanville and in Pace’s graduate program.
YOUTH GRAPHIC NOVEL WRITING WORKSHOP for YOUTH featuring Barbara Slate, author of the critically acclaimed textbook You Can Do a Graphic Novel. Slate teaches students how to find their own drawing style regardless of artistic ability, create characters, develop a plotline and create eye-popping layouts. Slate is also the author of Getting Married and other Mistakes. She created Angel Love for DC Comics, Yuppies from Hell and Sweet XVI for Marvel, and wrote hundreds of stories for Archie, Betty and Veronica, Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Pocahontas comics, 65 Barbie comics, and more.
