Attention alumni who use their @mville.edu account
If you wish to continue to use your mville email address, you MUST make this update!
Please read ALL of the information below CAREFULLY to set up your new mville email account!!
The college has implemented a new e-mail system for current students and ALUMNI. This new system is Microsoft Office 365 and it has been in operation at Manhattanville since August. We are contacting you today because your account was not included in the initial migration. The current ‘iMail’ system will soon be decommissioned and you MUST follow the steps below to access the new system if you would like to continue using an Mville e-mail address.
With this new system also comes a slightly different e-mail address. The domain (part after the @ sign) will now be ‘@student.mville.edu’ instead of ‘@mville.edu’. The part before the @ sign will remain the same. Example: firstname.lastname@example.org will now be email@example.com. (*For some individuals, the username may now have a number added to the end. This would only happen if an account with the same name already existed on the system. Please contact the IT Helpdesk at the number provided below with any issues.)
Your new Office 365 account will be ready for use on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 12pm. After this date and time, any e-mail sent to your old address ‘@mville.edu’ will begin to forward to your new address ‘@student.mville.edu’. Please continue to check your former iMail account (http://mail.mville.edu) until Monday, Jan. 14th, as new emails will not be forwarded to your 365 account until then.
The messages that are currently in your mailbox will not be migrated to Office 365. If there are important messages or critical documents in your mailbox that you would like to keep, please either forward the messages to an alternative address or save the attachments by Friday, January 18th.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
First step is to login to the Self Service Password Portal and setup your profile by answering two security questions. This utility will allow you to change your password (that controls e-mail and webadvisor) from the default or if ever forgotten. This tool can be found under the Quick Links section on the Manhattanville homepage or by using the following URL: https://selfservice.mville.edu.
Your USERNAME is the same username that you were previously using to access your e-mail (part before the @ sign). In most cases it is your full last name followed by your first initial. Example: smithj *For some individuals, the username may now have a number added to the end. This would only happen if an account with the same name already existed on the system. Please contact the IT Helpdesk at the number provided below with any issues.
Your temporary PASSWORD is a combination of your initials (the initial of your first name CAPITALIZED and initial of your last name LOWER CASE) followed by your 7-digit ID# (including leading zeros). Example: Js0012345
Please contact The Office of Alumni Relations if you are unsure of your 7 digit ID number at firstname.lastname@example.org or 914-323-7235.
The DOMAIN is student.
Second step is to access your new e-mail account through Office 365 at https://outlook.com/owa/student.mville.edu or by clicking on “MyMville” on the homepage, selecting Students on the left, and then clicking “Office 365 E-Mail”. Login credentials will be the same username that you used to access the self service portal along with the new password that you just created.
